Frequently asked questions
The questions solar plant owners in the Baltics ask us most often.
Solar panel cleaning, maintenance and efficiency

Request an offerWhy is solar panel cleaning important?
Regular cleaning keeps light absorption at its optimum and improves energy yield. Dust, dirt, bird droppings and other soiling can cut efficiency by 5–20%. Cleaning also extends module lifetime and protects the return on your investment.
How often should solar panels be washed?
Clients see production recover after the very first wash — it is visible in their monitoring portals. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year. Baltic weather — spring and autumn rain, dust and bird droppings — can create additional need.
Does rain clean a solar system?
Rain rinses off loose dust, but it does not remove bird droppings, pollen or greasy deposits. Professional washing is required to reach optimal production.
What kind of robot do you clean with?
The robot is purpose-built for thorough, efficient cleaning of PV systems. It is gentle on the glass surface and removes soiling without scratching or damaging the modules.
What are the risks of skipping maintenance?
Soiled modules can create hot spots that lead to overheating and permanent damage, reducing both output and service life. Regular maintenance and cleaning prevent this.
Does cleaning actually save money?
Yes. Regular cleaning and maintenance keep the plant working efficiently, increase generated electricity, prevent expensive failures and extend the life of the system.
Is robotic cleaning safe?
Yes. The robot is designed for safe and efficient washing. Soft brushes and a gentle process remove soiling without harming the panel surface.
Do we need to prepare anything?
No. Our crew arrives fully equipped and prepared. You do not need to arrange anything — we take care of the whole visit.
Do you also provide maintenance services?
Yes. pvcare.eu covers the full scope: cleaning, module condition assessment, thermal drone inspection and plant monitoring.
How do I get an offer?
Fill in the form on this website or call us. We prepare a tailored offer — with a guaranteed result.
Can panels be washed with ordinary water?
We recommend filtered water so that limescale deposits do not build up on the glass.
When is the best time to clean?
Early morning or evening, to avoid rapid temperature changes on the module surface.
Can a pressure washer be used?
It is not recommended — high pressure can damage the glass, frame seals or connectors.
What is a thermal drone inspection?
It is an aerial inspection with a thermal camera that reveals hot spots, damaged cells and connection faults across the array.
Does a drop in efficiency always mean a fault?
No. Soiling or shading is often the cause, and cleaning or mowing the vegetation resolves it.
How much electricity can soiling cost?
Depending on conditions, between 5% and up to 30% of the potential output.
Should panels be cleaned in winter?
In winter snow removal matters more, but we plan cleaning according to the situation and the weather.
Does maintenance affect the warranty?
Yes. Many manufacturers require documented regular maintenance for the warranty to remain valid.
Can I order a one-off cleaning?
Yes — both single visits and recurring service contracts are available.
How long does cleaning take?
It depends on the size of the system — from a few hours to a full working day.
